What is RSS?

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. RSS allows Choclopedia to put out special lists of new and popular chocolate to which you can subscribe to with an XML reader.

What are tags?

Tags are special keywords which you and other Choclopedia members can attach to the chocolates you add or review. The tags may describe the taste, texture, smell or any other attribute about the chocolate. Having chocolates tagged helps members like you to find chocolate with the exact properties and attributes you are looking for.

What is Boolean Searching? Does Choclopedia support it?

Boolean searching is a type of search where you can use special operators to help find snippets of the exact text or pattern you are searching for.

Choclopedia supports boolean searching to find chocolates. If you wish to use boolean searching, you use the following search operators:

+, -, > <, ( ), ˜, *, "

Examples:

dark chocolate
Find chocolate that contains at least “dark” or “chocolate”.
+strawberry +rittersport
Find chocolate that contains both “strawberry” and “rittersport”.
+dark bittersweet
Find chocolate that contains the word “dark”, but rank it higher if it also contains “macintosh&bittersweet;.
+bitter -bittersweet
Find chocolate that contains “bitter” but not “bittersweet”.
+sweet ~bitter
Find chocolate that contains the word “sweet”, but if the chocolate also contains the word “bitter”, rate it lower than chocolates that don't contain it.
+dark +(>criolo <arriba)
Find rows that contain the words “dark” and “criolo”, or “dark” and “arriba” (in any order), but rank “dark criolo” higher than “dark arriba”.
choco*
Find chocolate that contains words such as “choco”, “chocolate”, “chocolade”, or “chocolove”.
"excellence 70%"
Find chocolate that contains the exact phrase “excellence 70%” (for example, chocolate that contain “lindt excellence 70%” but not “lindt 70% excellence”).

Choclopedia is the pet–project of designer and developer Dan Bair. The programming and design was done by Dan Bair and help with design, branding and logo was done by Chris Tabor.
